Happy DNA monkey

BamHI digest

Ran this gel yesterday, it made me so happy! Finally I can start doing some crazy experiments. The big blotch kept bugging me, but after slicing it up with some endonucleases, I can now say with confidence that my plasmid isn't contaminated with genomic DNA. Err... it's probably multimers.

(I do realise that most people would have NO IDEA what I'm talking about, except for D, and the wife.)

Now I'm stuck in the lab overnight, yet again. Thought I'd do 6 shake flasks and 2 24 well plates, but 4 flasks and 2 24 well plates is pretty much all I can handle right now.

Now off for some cup-a-soup.

stormtrooper look

Stormtrooper look

There was that chemical spill in the lab a couple of months back, and we had to wear these industrial respirators in order to protect our various important sensitive bits. I've finally gotten round to transferring the picture off my phone. Don't you reckon the stormtrooper look is very befitting? Now all I need to is blast proof white armour and a blaster rifle to complete the look.

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Engagement

Engagement!

Went to Nama bar last night for a sort of engagement party drinks thingy. It was great. Planning the wedding is a lot more work than I had previously envisaged. Thankfully she's agreed to plan it. I just need to give birth to my thesis in the next 10 months. Easy peasy.
