World Citizens

There has recently been a lot of spotlight in the UK on the environment and the effects of Man on this planet that we live on. I just hope that everyone who passes through this site will just spare a moment to consider it. Click here to find out a little more.

It's been too easy to live like there's no tomorrow, and that our actions have no repercussions on the future we are leaving for our children, and our children's children. I urge everyone to make a little more effort, every little bit helps. Here's a couple of practical pointers.

1. Turn the air conditioning down, it's just stupid to crank it down to 16 degrees when you go to bed, and end up having to use a blanket.
2. Turn the heating off, and wear a sweater at home! There's no need to be able to walk around in shorts in the middle of winter.
3. Take public transportation to work or car pool. It's just too much of a luxury to just simply drive one person to work in on car. Think about the amount of fuel it takes to move an entire car, and just have 1 person sit in it.
4. Change to power saving bulbs. This is just common sense, it lasts longer than filament, and saves you money on your power bill at the same time.
5. Always the washing machine for a full load. To just go through and entire wash cycle, especially for hot cycles with just 1 or 2 items of clothing is such a waste!
6. There's no need to drive to the shop, when it's but a 20 minute walk away, EVEN IF it's really hot in Singapore. Lord knows we all need a bit more exercise. If we don't the rising sea levels might mean we would have to end up rowing to the shop, rather than drive.
7. Don't boil a full kettle if all you want is a cup of tea. Water has one of the highest heat capacities, what that means, is that it takes a LOT more energy to boil a full kettle than 1 cup.

Here are but a few points to help everyone of us make a difference to the amount of energy we use/waste. I'm sure if we thought about it, each of us would be able to come up with more. Let's each make an effort.

Windows? Or Divine?

Intervention? Geez, here I was making an effort to ignore person A's incessant whining on MSN, by reading random site, when Firefox HAS to go have an "illegal operation". This is just plain scary, OR I'm reading too much into things.

And since I was on the site....

I thought I'd let you other mortals know what I was on ther loser factor. Not bad considering... but kind of an paradox, seeing as I'm posting this up?

I am 13% loser. What about you? Click here to find out!

Yet another result from a quiz I got off Chani's site. Now all I need to know is when W is going to die, and adjust my lifestyle such that I die after her! :D

Oil consumption

Each and every Singaporean click this link now!!

This is absolutely disgraceful, essentially, what this is saying is that we are wasting energy!! I hereby appeal to all Singaporeans to turn off their freaking air conditioning!

Hello World.

It's been ages since I last blogged. Terrible really, in the time when I was away, I've been thieving material from IC, getting over a cold, and facing huge walls in my research. All in all, things have been pretty eventful, not as rosy as could be, but strangely, I'm not feeling like there's anything lacking in my life. Perception of reality, and life in general is completely different when living in submission and obedience to God's will.

Of course, the non-believers would instantly reject this and assume it's yet another case of religious brainwashing. I guess that's the great paradox, it's impossible to know what it's like or to understand living in submission until you do, there's always this innate refusal to let go, the fear of "what if I it give all up, but find out that it's not all that it's cracked up to be??" In any case, we've been talking about this at bible study.

Back to work

I guess it's been ages since I've blogged properly. It's back to work now that the new year has begun. It's like an avalanche of work/stress/badness has descended on my life, and my sanity is hanging on a tether. Such is the life of a lab monkey.

On a good note, I'm drawing much closer to God. I started the year in Watchnight service, which I felt was a great way to start the new year. One of the new year resolutions, to submit myself completely and unreservedly to His Will. Not going to be an easy thing though. I am still, after all, mortal, with the sinful nature of man in me, that constant wars against the Spirit. Thank God for the hope for the future, that this life we have is but a tent, and our true home with last for eternity.

New Year, A New Hope

Standing on the start of a new year, it's so sad how we are confronted on all sides by all the suffering that's going on around us. I guess there would be loads of people wondering if there was a God, how could he let something like this happen. As a believer I can't say I know the answer to this. It's just so much bigger and more difficult than my mind can get around.

Well, I started out the year being in the Lord's presence. Decided that this is going to be a good year. That being said, I've just done something really stupid, meddlesome, inconsiderate and just plain daft, so S, if you are reading this. I'm sorry.
